Laptops stolen from childrens’ distance learning center

In the middle of a pandemic, dozens of laptops and tablets were taken from a site where students have been doing their distance learning. Computational Thinkers on Dole St. before the pandemic was an after-school program teaching kids technology and programming. Since schools moved to distance learning, though, it’s been a hub where parents who have to work can drop off their kids in the morning to use their computers for distance learning. But Thursday night into Friday morning, a thief managed to break inside through a window, reach around and unlock the door, and go room to room stealing equipment. All in all, 25 devices were taken, totaling around $20,000 in value. Owner Samantha Kimsey says she was able to track some of the devices through the find my iPhone app and that they pinged at a nearby park. Police are investigating, and as of Sunday, they were able to recover 10 of the devices. – Tom George, KITV
