A facility that supports a small group of students, from different schools and different ages who participate in distance learning lessons together, with the help of a fully staffed team of Technology Assistants.
In March of 2013 an entity called Computational Thinkers was formed with mission of bringing a modern day skillset to a very young audience. Computational Thinkers began teaching children preK to 12th grade how to translate the real world it into a digital form.
In March of 2015 Computational Thinkers opened their first brick and mortar location in Kahala, HI. After more than three years at the location, it was sadly demolished by the land owners for new development.
Another year goes by. We searched high and low for a new location. We wanted a business location that neighbors a community park, has access to a green area for play, close proximity to several schools and has a homey feeling. Unfortunately, these qualities could not be found in a commercial property so Computational Thinkers found a home that does.
In December 2019, Computational Thinkers signed a lease with an owner of a residential property located at 2820 Dole St. The location was across the street from Kānewai Community Park near the University of Hawai`i. With permission from the owner, the blessing of several county offices, and with keeping our neighbors under consideration, we starting operating Computational Thinkers from the location as a “Home Based Business”.
On March 16th 2020, Computational Thinkers was all prepared to host their first big program: Spring Break 2020. Sadly this opening aligned with the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, crippling Computational Thinkers from opening their doors.
Computational Thinkers took the COVID19 quarantine downtime as an opportunity to pivot their operations and turn the pandemic into a moment of growth to support and help the community.
On August 17th, 2020 Computational Thinkers opened their doors under a second line of business called, CoWorking For Kids, with the mission to provide a space for students K to 12, to participate in distance learning outside of their home, safely in small groups.
